SYE 2011 - 11.11.11

Spotlight Youth Exchange (SYE) 2011 is about building friendships between youths of different nationalities through the three thrusts – Arts + Culture and Leadership + Learning.

It is about connecting all youths from Singapore to around the world whether they are local or non-local.  
SYE started early this year and everyone and anyone who have been involved have been anticipating their climax . 
11.11.11. 

11.11.11 will showcase a range of talented performers performing the night away. 
With Anna Belle Francis as their Creative Director and STS as the Producers, this night is bound to take your breath away. 

The night starts off with an Amazing Race Challenge which is targeted at youths ages 13-35 years old from all schools and youth organizations to participate in Singapore's First National Youth Amazing Race Challenge. The theme for this year's challenge is 'Friendship Without Borders".  



This is ideal for youths to learn and compete in an exciting and engaging environment, this race was conceptualized based on the format of an urban and island wide amazing race, integrated with leadership skills development, social emotional learning and service-learning. Participants will get to complete tasks and activities that require them to use their wits, judgement, collaborative leadership skills and speed. 


After the race, an all night long mind-blowing performances will follow. 

There will be performances by Sheikh Haikel, Comic Strip, Bloco Singapura, Radikal Forze, Freekzy Nutz 
and a special MIXALOGIES item created specially by STS

Comic Strip is a 9-piece band that amuses audiences with their feel good sound that is a refreshing concoction of ska, reggae, swing, latin and all that is delicious. Formed in 2004, the band has wowed listeners and captivated audiences from all walks of life with their exhilarating and high energy performances.

Sheikh Haikel will also 'Blaze It Up' for a special performance that will lead up to DJ Rattle of Club Rebel taking over the Warehouse with Hip Hop club hits till 1am!!

Writer's Festival 2011 - Success!

Last Friday (28th October) was the annual Writer's Festival held at SMU School of Information Systems. Big Steps. The event was a 3 day event (28th-30th October) and in spite of the humid weather and inconsistent rain, Writer's Festival turned out to be a huge success!! 

So,  all of us from Soul Theory Studios would like to sincerely congratulate and thank everyone involved in making this such an amazing experience. 


Firstly, a BIG CONGRATULATIONS goes out to 
Shigga Shay who emerged as Best MC thanks to his flawless rapping technic and delivery.

 CONGRATULATIONS to
Enero who won Best Lyricist for his deep and highly intellectual lyrical writing skills. 

CONGRATULATIONS to 
Alif who won the overall title for the Lyrical Dance Competition thanks to his fluidity and swag. 

CONGRATULATIONS  also goes out to 
Matin who came in 2nd place in the Lyrical Dance Competition with his wide range of body popping movements and his ability to move to the groove. 
He walked away with a Matt Black G-Shock.

CONGRATULATIONS to 

Al Matin who won the Canon Giveaway challenge and took home a Limited Edition Canon EOS 1100D & SBTG box set with his interesting and amazing answer. 

Lastly, CONGRATULATIONS to 


Mr. Hidden-Talent-Rapper-Professor who won the 'What would you do for $50" tongue twister challenge and broke out with a mind blowing rap of his own on stage. 


Congratulations to everyone else who participated and who took the time to be there with us and showcase what you've got. Do not be disheartened because each and everyone of you are so talented and it only made the judges decisions harder. 


A humungous THANK YOU to all performers who made Writer's Festival just so wonderful to be a part of.

Lyrical Transaction [29th October][5.00-7.00pm]

Lyrical Transaction is an exciting event hosted by the godfather of HIP HOP, Sheikh Haikel and Soul Theory Studios, that showcases fearless rappers who go through 3 rounds of lyrical battling to see who will emerge as the ultimate MC.

How this works is MCs will deliver verses set by Sheikh Haikel and their participants.

The MCs featured are:

Hafriz Genesis
Nizmatic Jin
Enero
Fee Kee’D
Leon Francis
Akeem
El Gecko


Lyrical Transaction consists of 3 rounds namely,
Round 1 – ‘WORDS FROM THE WISE’, In this round MCs, will draw from a hat a popular verse and deliver it on a given track by DJ Rattle.

Round 2 – ‘WORDS OF MINE’, is where MCs spit their own verse over an instrumental by DJ Rattle.

Round 3 – ‘WORDS OF THEIRS’, In this final round, MCs will draw from a hat verses from other participants and will deliver this verse on the instrumental provided by DJ Rattle.
